       - Pop-out Paper Airplane Designs (.pdf)

      Extraordinary Shapes,

       Amazing Flights!

Everyone knows what an airplane looks like.

We see them every day, flying high up in the sky, heading far away. Wings, tails, engines leaving long white trails of vapor.

But look again! There are all kinds of different shapes. Some are gliders, with no engine. Some have the tail in front, or have no tail at all. Some have two wings, but some have four or even more than that.

When I started designing my own paper airplanes as a kid, I quickly became bored with ordinary-shaped planes. They were easy to design and easy to fly, but they were... ordinary. I soon began to try unusual and unexpected shapes, because they were so much more fun to look at, and it felt so much better when they flew! Most of all, I loved flying things that you wouldn’t think could fly at all, like The Killer Whale on page 16.

The planes in this kit are the ultimate expression of that desire. They are unusual-looking planes that can be built quickly, but still have exciting performance. By carefully folding and stapling, they can be assembled and trimmed in a couple of minutes, perhaps right at the park. Yet they fly for a surprisingly long time—probably longer than any paper airplane you’ve built before (unless you’ve already tried the planes in my One Minute Paper Airplanes Kit!).

Here you go, your curiosity indulged. What are you waiting for?

Using a Ruler to Fold the Pieces

Image

Use a ruler when you fold the paper. This will give you crisp, straight creases without weakening the paper. Pictured above is a valley fold, and below is a mountain fold.
