About the Author
INTRODUCTION
This book tells graphically the constant pain and life threatening complications related to Type 2 Diabetes which has afflicted the author for the past 18 years.
Diabetes has no known cure. It is a global scourge that has emerged as the biggest national and worldwide crippler and killer faster than major illnesses such as heart disease and cancer. (“The Stealth Epidemic”, The New York Times, January 9, 2006).
The most recent report on diabetes by the U.S. Center for Disease Control in 2000 revealed 21,000,000 Americans with diabetes and predicted that 41,000,000 more will get it. The World Health Organization reported 121,000,000 afflicted and predicted that 266,900,000 more will get it worldwide.
Typically, complications of Type 2 Diabetes set in years before any symptoms appear and before they are diagnosed. (Richard Kahn, Ph.D., Chief Scientific and Medical Officer, American Diabetes Association)
These reports from the U.S. Center for Disease Control and from the American Diabetes Association confirm that medical complications that diabetes sets off attack every major organ, causing severe nerve damage along with painful swelling of fingers, joints and knuckles; muscle aches and pains; painful tingling of the legs and feet; restless legs; wounds that do not heal that lead to amputation; severe imbalance in walking; bladder problems and kidney diseases needing excruciating dialysis.
This book is about controlling Type 2 Diabetes and preventing this crippling nerve damage, preventable pain and destruction of major organs by eating ‘healing’ or low glycemic foods; drinking baby’s milk formula; regular exercise and taking prescribed medication. All are paramount in the control and prevention of this killer disease.
