What do you do if you can’t visualize? Simply, just use your other senses–feel, touch and smell. For instance, if you are looking to take a vacation to Paris, France, feel yourself sitting in a French bistro smelling the aromas of freshly baked pastries. If you still are having trouble using your other senses, then use affirmations and create visuals. Find images of scenes from Paris, France in magazines, newspapers, and brochures. Cut the images out and paste them onto a calendar or a goal notebook. If you don’t have time to create a calendar, then write your affirmations on post-it notes that state exactly what you desire—“It is the year 2015, and I am standing at the foot of the Eifel Tower.” Stick the post-it notes with your affirmations onto your refrigerator, bathroom mirror, car dashboard, and any other place where you will see it at least once a day.
What you’ll find by doing these simple exercises is that within a matter of days to weeks you are a magnet for attracting friends and even strangers who are planning a trip to Europe, have just recently visited Europe, or are a native of Europe. The more positive and focused you are the better you will become with shifting the energy vibe in your environment to an energy vibe that will assist you with achieving your goals. The key in fulfilling your vision is to not give up. Believe that you have the ability to manifest everything and anything you want. Like everything in life, it takes time. The more you practice saying your affirmations, thinking positive thoughts, and writing down your goals the better you’ll become with creating the life you desire.
The power of the mind is just one tool that can help you create and achieve your goals and objectives. In the next three chapters, I will share two powerful everyday tools—color and sound—which if used will not only help you achieve your goals and objectives, but also assist you with increasing your productivity, improving your relationships, and enhancing your self-awareness.
Color and Its Connection with You
You go into your closet and pull out that navy blue business suit for a job interview. Why navy blue? One reason is that your friends, family and coworkers have told you to wear a blue suit for an interview because it’s well received. Whoever told you that is correct! Blue is an excellent color to wear for a job interview. Blue is a color that promotes communication. It gives people a feeling of calmness and peacefulness. It allows one to be perceived as open, reliable, credible and loyal. That’s the power behind color.
As I mentioned in the chapter called What is an Energy Vibe, color affects you because it is made up of energy. All the colors in your environment affect your emotional, mental and physical state. Let’s take an example. What is the color of your living room? How do you feel when you are in the room? Now take a moment and visualize all four walls of the room painted in a bright lime green color. In addition, visualize your furniture bright neon orange. How do you feel now? I’m sure you’re feeling a bit stimulated, excited, and perhaps even uncomfortable. In fact, you may even feel a headache coming on. These two colors would be a great color for a child’s playroom, but not for a living room or bedroom—two places where you would like to be able to relax and hangout in.
If you recall in the chapter called Get the Vibe! Principles one of the Principles stated, “Everything and everyone affects you and is affected by you.” The news, the phone call, the child that smiles at you in a store, the woman yelling at her boyfriend, and the music you listen to all impact your moods and mental state; and eventually will affect your physical well-being. Color is no different.
In fact, throughout history, color has been used to symbolize more than our emotional state. It is used to identify seasons, holidays, traditions, branding and ethnic background. Each country personally chose the colors of its country flag to communicate to the world who they are and what they represent. Each sports team carefully selected its team colors to again communicate to its fans and rivals who they are and what they represent. In art, it’s used to tell a story without words and without sound. In product design, it’s used to create a brand image for a specific product. In politics, color is used to identify various parties. Color has a voice of its own creating a certain feeling and aura with how it’s used and what it represents.
