Deborah Cowley
Deborah Cowley is an Ottawa-based writer and broadcaster. During her extensive worldwide travels, she has written over one hundred feature articles for different editions of Readers Digest on such diverse subjects as chimpanzee guru Jane Goodall, the ORBIS flying eye doctors, and the pilgrim’s path to Santiago de Compostela. She has worked on CBC television documentaries filmed in Egypt and prepared over fifty documentaries for CBC Radio. She has also written travel articles for various newspapers and travel magazines.
Deborah Cowley is the author of Cairo, A Practical Guide (University of Cairo Press), now in its twelfth edition. In the early 1990s, she collaborated with her husband George Cowley to write One Woman’s Journey: A Portrait of Pauline Vanier (Novalis). Most recently, she edited the wartime letters of former Governor General Georges Vanier, published as Georges Vanier: Soldier (Dundurn Press).
