Preface
Believing nihilism to be insupportable to a sober mind, I write poetry to resolve paradoxes; in thus envisaging harmony images are summoned from the natural world
Detritus of a banquet shelved
Anterior effulgence delved
Elliptic course of depths to sound
The Rubicon no coarsened shroud
Beyond horizons edging near
More undulating ease and fear
Short circuits mere alternation
Till respite’s salved, this elongation
Miasma spurned in memories
In retrospection shun the breeze
Lest midnight sunshine Candlemas —
Somnambulance of Animus —
Descends abroad to evanesce
At length the view reductionist
Yet echoes of bedizened bliss
A pulse descry — a simple plan
The mid-day moon — our talisman
Lo the voice I held as mine
Like crystal cultures steeped in brine
In solitude and circumspection
Chiselled out, the soft inflections
Endogenous, the lost caress
A scarce resemblance manifest
The apparition blanched the garden
Composed of stencils, stents disheartened
The interregnum, monsoon blight
Striven ripeness chaste of light
A shadow cast, encroaching gloom
A staggered harvest blessed strewn
With loss of faith, a faith exhumed
The stillborn shrapnel, landscape-strewn
No heroism, restitution
From timidity, this absolution
An idle season’s seal impressed
Culture of a fledgling’s nest
With tinder draped in absent time
For diorama scenes aligned
The faintest start, the slightest trace
Immutable as strains apace
With wavelengths weft in adumbration
Recumbency in elevation
Season of the chafing mange
A straw man’s hay — the festive strands
Wicker for a conflagration
Caesarian defenestration
Diverse wounds of parity
Divest to each extremity
Where angels range to instigate
Harmony — the trysts of fate
One for sorrow, two for joy
A rainbow on sunbeams grey blurs deploy
Edifice arcs protrude into mist
Zeniths of tyranny arraigned and dismissed
At crystalline curfews, so little to say
A ruminant’s treasure siphoned of day
Shame now secretions in this waking pause
Unleavened the dreams of unbidden discourse
As nuclear pulsars in heavier waters
The Aegis of fatal binary discourses
Young for the summer and small talk and silence
Forms in succession of bovine abidance
Stalling lest in gaining speed
A narrative discordant heeds
Segmented wounds of syncopation
Complacency our embrocation
Rarefied, gliding traction
Past diffidence and dull distractions
Arabesque in slow vignettes
A tone unbroken intercepts
Mermaid worms of double-dates
Of double-decade segment breaks
