VLCDs appear to be safe if you are evaluated beforehand and closely monitored by medical professionals. VLCDs produce significant weight losses and improve your blood glucose levels, cholesterol, and blood pressure. Unfortunately, using a VLCD alone, without a behavior-change program, means you probably won’t be able to maintain the weight loss.
