12 Imagine yourself during a typical mealtime. What do you see going on around you? What would you be eating?

Describe a usual evening in your home.

What was a regular Saturday like? Sunday?

13 What kinds of music did you hear as a child? Write of a memory that involves music.

My mother read with no restraint. As if she’d never heard the phrase “reading to yourself” she’d laugh, groan, cry, and gasp her way through her books. We never had to ask her to read to us. She’d suddenly call out, “bring me Paddle!” and one of us would race to take Paddle to the Sea off the shelf. There was always a new stack of library books, but we all favored the treasured old friends. With a spread of five children, we got to visit these friends beyond the recommended age as there was always a younger child listening to The Little House, Caps for Sale, or Paddle.
