events and activities including the much loved annual pantomime starring Berwick Kaler, the UK’s longest running Dame.

Over the last ten years York Theatre Royal’s work has expanded to include collaborations with the wider community and school groups both on and off stage. The theatre has seen an increase in the number of young people wanting to get involved and as a result they now have one of the largest youth theatre groups in the country with over 300 members.

In recent years, the theatre has had huge success in terms of number of attendees and various awards recognising their work for The Railway Children hosted at the National Railway Museum and then transferred to the old Eurostar terminal at Waterloo, and the large scale production of The York Mystery Plays 2012 involving over 1,000 members of the community.

York Theatre Royal closed its doors in March 2015 to complete a major capital project, the first in almost 50 years. During this year the theatre has taken up residency at the purpose built Signal Box Theatre at the National Railway Museum. Working in partnership with the NRM, the theatre has produced two large scale productions – In Fog and Falling Snow, The Railway Children and the world-famous annual pantomime Dick Whittington (and his meerkat) will also take place in The Signal Box Theatre. The theatre will re-open in spring 2016, with a new roof, an extended and re-modelled front of house area, a refurbished and redecorated main auditorium and with major improvements to access and environmental impact. It is intended that York Theatre Royal will be a building fit for a 21st century audience that will be sustainable and able to thrive into the future.

Park Theatre was founded by Artistic Director, Jez Bond. The building opened in May 2013 and, with two West End transfers, two national theatre transfers and three national tours in its first two years, quickly garnered a reputation as key player in the London theatrical scene. In 2015 Park Theatre received an Olivier nomination and won The Stage’s Fringe Venue of the Year.

Park Theatre is a neighbourhood theatre with a global ambition.

We present world class theatre, collaborating with the finest existing and emerging talent. We programme classics through to new writing, distinguished by strong narrative drive and powerful emotional content. We produce both in-house and in partnership with the most excellent existing and emerging producers, with whom we endeavour to provide an unparalleled level of support.

With a welcoming and nurturing environment we want Park Theatre to be accessible to everyone, within our diverse community and beyond – and through affordable ticket pricing and outreach programmes we aim to engage with those with little or no experience of theatre.

We aim to be a beacon for all and an ambassador for theatre worldwide.
