a purpose to this brief immensity of life. Good times are what we seek, to share with friends, with partners or alone. To be tested by unknown occurrences upon familiar forms. It’s not the vessel that’s of worth when measured against the precious time spent upon its decks. It is rather what we do that values each days living. We are compelled by life to grow, to become more than what we were, to expand our thoughts of self and species.
I’ve learned the ropes this first season out, the halyards, sheets, outhaul, traveler, Cunningham and vang. With each days launch anticipation grew, each docking was unique, a celebration, a return to port, a chance to reflect upon the experiences of the day. I’ve learned things technical each time I sailed and yet I’ve grown much more. Skills refine by repetition measuring action and effect, but sailing grows the soul as time upon the sea brings clarity of mind. I experience therefore I am. My thoughts only serve to document what I feel. Emotion is the art form through which we ingest living. Thought becomes the science by which we communicate experience. It is our ability to share our emotions and our thoughts that defines the human level of evolution and our place in life upon this earth. The question of our purpose is the luxury of humankind. To understand existence is the pathway of our soul. 7th Chakra is at rest awaiting the coming spring, dry beneath its canvas cloak quietly anticipating its reincarnation as the cycle of the seasons spirals on.
