Welcome to the heart of the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. If you’ve never ventured into this stunning sector of the Oregon coast, prepare yourself for an experience that you will not forget.
Eel Creek is just one of many campgrounds that are clustered in the Florence/Reedsport/Coos Bay stretch of US 101. Aside from its vegetation-lush private sites, Eel Creek’s strongest selling point is the absence of off-road vehicle access to the dunes.
There are 32,000 acres of sand in the National Recreation Area, and the jeep trail stops short 1 or 2 miles south of Eel Creek, so there’s space for everyone here. If you want peace and quiet as part of your dunes experience, however, make sure to avoid hiking in an area where they rent dune buggies.
