‘In the spirit of celebrating children all over the world, the artists in this book have been invited to draw on their own unique and rich cultural heritage in illustrating these biblical stories. Their art is truly a marvellous reflection of how we are all made in God’s image.’
Desmond Tutu
Dear Child of God,
Do you know that God loves you?
The Bible says that each and every one of us – every girl and every boy – is a very special person. God says, ‘Before you were born, I knew you.’ God made you just as you are, so you could be your own unique and precious gift to the world.
God made every one of us different – but he loves all of us equally, for we are all God’s children. And no matter what happens, God will never stop loving you.
God also wants us to fill our lives with love. Jesus says we should love God, love other people, and love ourselves. How do we do this?
By doing three important things:
Do what is RIGHT,
Be KIND TO ONE ANOTHER,
and be FRIENDS WITH GOD.
You will see these teachings and many more in God’s stories, which we have gathered here for you and all of God’s children. These stories have been illustrated by some of the most gifted artists I have ever seen. This is truly a storybook Bible created by people in many, many lands for children all around the world just like you.
I hope you enjoy it.
God bless you,
Desmond Tutu
