even if you think about making $5,000 a month, that comes residually month in and month out, that really is like having a fortune because how much money would you need to have saved up in the bank in order to throw off $5,000 a month. Depending upon interest rates, you’re probably talking about $1 million. An income of $5,000 a month in network marketing is really like having $1 million in the bank throwing off or in an investment vehicle throwing off $5,000 a month.

      When you work a job, you’re working in payment, for the exchange of time. The last time I checked, most Americans were making about $55,000 a year. It’s about the average income. Some people who are fortunate and work harder and get into some better careers can make $100,000 a month. Of course, if you’re an attorney or a surgeon or something like that, you can make $250,000 to $500,000. If you’re really good at sales, you can make up to $300,000. That’s pretty good, right? It can allow you to earn a living.

      If you have a job, you’ll be able to work full-time on that job, and you’ll earn a living. Network marketing allows you, in a smaller period of time, to be able to work on your fortune. Let’s think about this. Let’s say you work 40 hours a week on your job. You can work on your job full-time. Let’s say you make $50,000 a year, so you’re making $4,000 a month. You’re working full-time, 40 hours a week for that full-time on your job.

      In down economies, it’s great to be able to have a job. Never be ashamed of having a job. If you’re providing value and you’re helping other people through your job and you’re earning a good honest living, that’s fantastic! We need to put more people back to work in America. But if you have the desire to earn more, to have more, to achieve more, to not just be someone who makes it through; if you want to rise above the average, the status quo, the mediocre; if you want to achieve something of financial independence and wealth, you have to figure out another way.

      Well, here’s the problem for most people. Most people don’t have the ability to just quit their job and go work full-time on a better job, right? The philosophy of network marketing is that you can start small. You work eight hours a day at your full-time job, but you can work part-time on your fortune. You say, “Wait a minute! I got into network marketing. I’ve been doing it for three months. I’ve been working part-time, and I certainly don’t have a fortune. I only made $300 last month. That’s not a fortune, Chris!”

      You have to understand the nature of network marketing. We’re going to talk about this in point 3, but suffice it to say at this point, network marketing allows you to grow your income. If you work full-time on a job and you make $50,000 this year, you probably don’t have the chance to make $150,000 next year doing the same job, right? You might get a cost of living increase of 5 percent, so now you’re making $52,500 next year. Actually, a 5 percent cost of living increase would be pretty good. Most people don’t get that.

      What network marketing allows you to do is work the same amount of part-time hours, but as it grows, you’re still doing the same part-time work, say 5 to 8 hours a week. In your first month, you might make $50 but then it grows because you’re helping other people build the business, and then the next month, you might make $125, and then $300, and then $500, and then $700. You’re still doing those eight hours of work.
