is when you think about these learnings that their true power and importance will often become profound.

      STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS #8

“ Habit is a great deadener.”

      SAMUEL BECKETT

      IRISH NOVELIST AND DRAMATIST

      COACH’S COMMENTS:

It is said the definition of stupidity is to always do the same things in life the same way and expect a different outcome.

It’s easy to become a creature of habit and when you do you will be surprised how fast life passes you by.

I bet you don’t know what hand you use to grab your toothbrush, what arm you first push into your shirt, what leg you put in your trousers first or what shoe you put on first.

Well chances are it’s always the same one!

      STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS #9

“The chains of habit are too weak to be felt until they are too strong to be broken.”

      SAMUEL JOHNSON

      ENGLISH CRITIC AND WRITER

      COACH’S COMMENTS:

The problem with life is that if you’re not careful, it’s just one big habit.

The challenge of change is to be courageous enough to be prepared to break a habit.

Often, a bad habit, like smoking, needs to be broken and you haven’t got the courage or strength to change.

Well, it’s then that you need to be responsible for yourself and look at the serious consequences of not changing – death!

      STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS #10

“Habit is habit, and not to be flung out the window by man, but coaxed downstairs, a step at a time.”

      MARK TWAIN

      AMERICAN WRITER AND HUMORIST

      COACH’S COMMENTS:

In other words, it’s hard by the yard but a sinch by the inch.

If you have ever wanted to kick a habit like drinking, swearing, smoking or drugs or even lazyness, then the best way to break it is by taking small steps.

It is very difficult to instantly break a bad habit, but easier to break it into planned stages. Then you give yourself the benefit of achieving a planned exit strategy and the chances of you succeeding are magnified greatly.

      STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS #11

“One is happy as a result of one’s own efforts, once one knows the necessary ingredients of happiness – simple tastes, a certain degree of courage, self-denial to a point, love of work, and above all, a clear conscience. Happiness is no vague dream.”

      AMANDINE AURORE LUCIE DUPIN

FRENCH NOVELIST, ALSO KNOWN AS GEORGE SAND

      COACH’S COMMENTS:

People after a death of a spouse or a marriage separation often feel let down, humiliated or betrayed by the party that left.

It is not easy to handle and can eat at your self-esteem and self-worth … so try to dream again of happiness”.

      STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS #12

“It is impossible for a man to be made happy by putting him in a happy place, unless he be first in a happy state.”

      BENJAMIN WHICHCOTE

      ENGLISH PHILOSOPHER AND THEOLOGIAN

      COACH’S COMMENTS:

Yes, how true this is. First you need to fix the brain and the heart or otherwise simply shifting into a happy place won’t work.

However, I have learnt that by shifting into a happy place it is possible to repair a broken heart and make it happy again.

Remember, we are a bi-product of our environment and a positive one will make us happy.

      STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS #13

“The supreme happiness of life is the conviction that we are loved; loved for ourselves, or rather, loved in spite of ourselves.”

      VICTOR HUGO

      FRENCH POET AND AUTHOR

      COACH’S COMMENTS:

How often have you observed a friend or colleague crave to be loved.

Well the truth, as hard as it is to swallow, is that people who don’t love themselves enough, crave to be loved and respected by others.

Their traits are trying to please, offering to do everything, over committing themselves and in the end becoming poor time managers and not respecting those who love them.

      STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS #14

“Happiness is a butterfly which, when pursued, is always beyond our grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you.”

      NETHANIEL HAWTHORNE

AMERICAN NOVELIST AND SHORT STORY WRITER

      COACH’S COMMENTS:

Your pursuit of happiness is in fact a paradox. The more you seek it, the more it escapes your grasp and just vanishes.

It seems that the best and most happy times happen when you least expect them.

It’s like finding a partner when you are by yourself in life. You find they are there when you don’t go looking for them.

      STRATEGIES FOR SUCCESS #15

“All happiness depends on a leisurely breakfast.”

      JOHN GUNTER

      ENGLISH DESIGNER

      COACH’S COMMENTS:

Take your time if you want to be happy. If you’re in a rush and skip breakfast, you are, it seems, destined to miss your goal.

Patience and a calmness inside, it seems, are the keys to happiness for many people in life.

However, it is very difficult to easily be in this stable mind set.

      So
