did you!? Did you see a man near the checkout!?”

“No, not that I recall. Why what’s up?”

I toss the bag to her. “Take a look inside.”

Pulling out the panties then the Ben-Wa Balls, she holds the package up. “Vanessa, you sneaky little tramp! Did you try them yet? How did you like them? Wasn’t the orgasm mind blowing?”

“OMG! NO! I didn’t buy those! Look in the bag again.” She pulls out the receipt; I yank it from her hand and flip it over. “Here, look at this!” I can see her eyes moving across the slip of paper reading each word carefully.

“Who the fuck is Ian!?” She looks up at me.

“I don’t know, some guy; he approached me when I was standing by ‘those things.'” I point at the package.

“Wow, what did he look like? Was he hot?”

“He was tall with dirty blonde hair and dark blue eyes. Not that it matters, but yes, he was hot!” I feel the heat rushing through me.

“Looks like someone has an admirer…are you going to call him?” She teases.

“Absolutely not! Why would I do that!? I’m engaged and getting married to Shayne!”

“Well, he obviously knows a thing or two about these wonder balls; maybe give the number to Shayne for some pointers.” She laughs.

“Shut the fuck up, Brytney! That’s not funny at all! Shayne found the bag last night, he nearly had a stroke. I told him you bought the panties as a joke and the cashier must have put the other things in the wrong bag. Can you imagine if he would have seen the receipt?”

“Who knows, maybe he would have thought twice before putting you on your back again.”

      “You’re so not funny, Brytney!”

“Chill out woman, he didn’t see the note, you did nothing wrong, besides I know you’ll never go back to that store; So you have nothing to worry about. Now, let’s go eat.” She says and grabs her purse.

“Good afternoon, ladies.” Our usual waiter, Mark, says as he walks up to the table.

“Hi, Mark. How are you today?” We both ask him.

“Better, now that my two favorite customers are here. I’ll go get your usual drinks while you look over the menu.”

      “Thanks, Mark,” I tell him.

“Okay, where are we at on the menu?” Brytney asks me.

“Wednesday night we had the Scallops with garlic butter and linguine, looks like today we are at the Shrimp Trio it has Scampi, Grilled and Coconut.”

“Oh, that sounds great!” She exclaims.

Brytney and I have been in the search for the perfect restaurant; we eat twice a week at the same place choosing our meal in order off the menu…until we have a meal, we don’t like. Then, we move onto another restaurant. Sadly, none of the previous places have made it very far into the menu, but so far here at Benita’s, we have gone through half of theirs, loving every meal. “This is our last meal in the seafood section Brytney, and then we move onto steaks.”

“Here you are ladies, two glasses of red wine. Have you decided on what you would like today?” Mark asks as he sets our glasses down.

“Thank you, Mark. Yes, we would both like the Shrimp Trio today.” Brytney tells him.

“Good choice, I’ll go put your order in.”

“Hey Vanessa, remember that cute little dress we saw yesterday?” Brytney asks me.

“’Little’ isn’t the word for it…what about it?”

“I’ve decided I’m going to splurge and go buy it after we are finished with dinner. I think Jack will love it!”

“I’m sure he will, there’s nothing to it.”

Brytney rambles on about the dress she is going to get, while my mind keeps returning to Ian. I only break from my thoughts when Mark returns with our food.

“Okay ladies, here you go. Enjoy your meal, and let me know if there’s anything else I can get for you.”

“This smells wonderful thank you, Mark.”

“And it tastes even better,” I tell Brytney as I put another bite in my mouth.

“Oh Vanessa, this is so good! I think this is my favorite!”

I laugh. “Brytney, you have said that about every meal we’ve had here so far.”

“I know, I can’t help it…it’s all just so good.”

“I agree with you there, maybe this place will be the one.”

An hour and a half later we are stuffed. “Looks like Shayne’s eating takeout, solo tonight.” The thought of cooking makes me ache, I am so full.

“You still have a couple hours until he gets home. Do you want to go with me to buy the dress?”

“No, not today... I think I’m going to head straight home. A bath and a nap are what I could actually use right now.”

“Would you ladies like dessert, tonight?”

“Are you kidding me!? That was fabulous, Mark but I’m so full I can barely finish my glass of wine.” I tell him.

“Same here, we’ll just take the check now Mark.”

“Very well ladies, I’ll take it when you’re ready.”

      “You ready to go, Vanessa?”

“Yes, if I sit here any longer my nap will be at this table.”

“Here you go Mark, thank you for a lovely meal.” Brytney hands him the bill with our money.

“See you ladies on Wednesday,” Mark says to us as we head to the door.

“Have a great evening, Mark,” I yell back.

“Okay, I’m off to the store. Are you sure you don’t want to come?”

“Nope, I’m good. You have fun.” I tell her.

“Suit yourself; I’ll talk to you later.” She says as she’s heading out to her car.

      Chapter Five

After a few hours with Brytney, I’m finally home. I open the screen door, a long box falls out. It’s Sunday, there isn’t any mail. Looking at the box, there isn’t an address on it, only my name is written across the length of it.

Placing the box on the counter, I untie the ribbon and open the box to find a dozen beautiful lilies.
