Creating a Strip Placket

This is a lesson on how to attach the strip placket and stand collar for the sleeveless dress (p 12).
1. Using the instructions on p 54 as a guide, attach the gathered front and back sections of the dress to the front and back yokes respectively (if you are adding decorative flaps, sandwich them between the yoke and the front section).
2. Cut two pieces for the strip placket and attach adhesive interfacing to half of each piece.
3. Fold fabric over to conceal adhesive interfacing and iron to

5. Stitch ⅜ in (1cm) in from edges up to about ⅜ in (1cm) from end.
6. Slash diagonally on each side of center front, starting from the end of stitching.
7. Fold placket pieces to inside.
8. Top-stitch along edges of placket.
9. Fold seam allowance of placket under and pin in place.
10. When pinning, line up turned-under placket so that you can only just see the stitches made in step 5.
