The ninth problem concerns the proper symbols, or similes, for the Master, the Christ. Should Jesus be described as the soul who first went through the cycle of earthly lives to attain perfection, including perfection in the planetary lives also?

      (A) He should be. This is as the man, see?

      (Q) Should this be described as a voluntary mission One Who was already perfected and returned to God, having accomplished His Oneness in other planes and systems?

      (A) Correct.

      (Q) Should the Christ-Consciousness be described as the awareness within each soul, imprinted in pattern on the mind and waiting to be awakened by the will, of the soul’s oneness with God?

      (A) Correct. That’s the idea exactly!

The Edgar Cayce readings on creation and evolution are ultimately about the fact that we are spiritual beings having a physical experience. From this perspective, the main goal of earthly experience is to somehow bring “spirit” into the earth. Our collective purpose is to bring the very best we can conceive and imagine into the earth because we are children of a Divine creator charged with somehow manifesting divinity into the third dimension. That is why we are here. That is also the ultimate purpose for life. The means through which we can accomplish this incredible goal is through the universal processes of creation and evolution.

For Cayce, each individual is ultimately a companion and a co-creator with God. Creation is an ongoing process and every thought we think and every action we take has an impact upon that process. In terms of evolution, personal evolution is ultimately about correlating the human mind and soul toward perfection eventually becoming “at one” with the Divine Being who brought all of Creation into manifestation. In Cayce’s terminology, it is about becoming “One with the oneness.” It is our destiny to reawaken to the fact that we are spiritual beings manifesting in the earth.

      Creation/Atlantis Readings

       Reading 3508–1

God moved, the spirit came into activity. In the moving it brought light, and then chaos. In this light came creation of that which in the earth came to be matter; in the spheres about the earth, space and time; and in patience it has evolved through those activities until there are the heavens and all the constellations, the stars, the universe as it is known—or sought to be known by individual soul-entities in the material plane.

Then came into the earth materiality, through the spirit pushing itself into matter. Spirit was individualized, and then became what we recognize in one another as individual entities. Spirit that uses matter, that uses every influence in the earth’s environ for the glory of the Creative Forces, partakes of and is a part of the universal consciousness.

       Reading 262–119

Just so have we seen and comprehended how that there is the Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit. The Spirit is the movement; as when God the First Cause—called into being light as a manifestation of the influences that would, through their movement (light movement) upon forces yet unseen, bring into being what we know as the universe—or matter; in all its forms, phases, manifestations.

       Reading 262–99

When the earth became a dwelling place for matter, when gases formed into those things that man sees in nature and in activity about him, then matter began its ascent in the various forms of physical evolution—in the mind of God! The spirit chose to enter (celestial, not an earth spirit—he hadn’t come into the earth yet!), chose to put on, to become a part of that which was as a command not to be done! Then those so entering must continue through the earth until the body-mind is made perfect for the soul, or the body-celestial again.

       Reading 341–1

In the days before this we find the entity was among those in the day when the forces of the Universe came together, when there was upon the waters the sound of the coming together of the Sons of God, when the morning stars sang together, and over the face of the waters there was the voice of the glory of the coming of the plane for man’s dwelling.

       Reading 2497–1

In the one before this, we find in the beginning, when all forces were given in the spiritual force, and the morning stars sang together in the glory of the coming of the Lord and the God to make the giving of man’s influence and developing in the world’s forces.

       Reading 294–8

. . . in the beginning, when the first of the elements were given, and the forces set in motion that brought about the sphere as we find called earth plane, and when the morning stars sang together, and the whispering winds brought the news of the coming of man’s indwelling, of the spirit of the Creator, became the living soul. This entity came into being with this multitude.

       Reading 364–10

From that which has been given, it is seen that individuals in the beginning were more of thought forms than individual entities with personalities as seen in the present, and their projections into the realms of fields of thought that pertain to a developing or evolving world of matter, with the varied presentations about same, of the expressions or attributes in the various things about the entity or individual, or body, through which such science—as termed now, or such phenomena as would be termed—became manifest. Hence we find occult or psychic science, as would be called at the present, was rather the natural state of man in the beginning. Very much as (in illustration) when a baby, or babe, is born into the world and its appetite is first satisfied, and it lies sleeping. Of what is its dreams? That it expects to be, or that it has been? Of what are thoughts? That which is to be, or that which has been, or that which is? Now remember we are speaking—these were thought forms, and we are finding again the illustrations of same!

. . . These, then, are the manners in which the entities, those beings, those souls, in the beginning partook of, or developed. Some brought about monstrosities, as those of its (that entity’s) association by its projection with its association with beasts of various characters. Hence those of the Styx, satyr, and the like; those of the sea, or mermaid; those of the unicorn, and those of the various forms—these projections of what? The abilities in the psychic forces (psychic meaning, then, of the mental and the soul—doesn’t necessarily mean the body, until it’s enabled to be brought into being in whatever form it may make its manifestation—which may never be in a material world, or take form in a three-dimensional plane as the earth is; it may remain in a fourth-dimensional—which is an idea! Best definition that ever may be given of fourth-dimension is an idea! Where will it project? Anywhere! Where does it arise from? Who knows! Where will it end? Who can tell! It is all inclusive! It has both length, breadth, height and depth—is without beginning and is without ending! Dependent upon that which it may feed for its sustenance, or it may pass into that much as a thought or an idea. Now this isn’t ideal that’s said! It’s idea! see?)
