Will not perish (or die) but have EVERLASTING Life.” [John 3:16]
God loves us so much, in spite of us that he sacrificed his only son (Jesus) to be a substitute for us, to die that we may live forever with him. The son’s sacrifice erased every one of our crimes that disallowed us to enter God’s Holy, sanctified presence, not because of our goodness,” “for all have sinned, and came short of the glory of God.” [Romans 3:23] “there will no flesh be justified in his sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin”[vs.20]” but God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” [Romans 5:8] “by whom also we have access by faith (or simple belief) into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.” [vs.2].
In my opinion, this is what love got to do with it, especially for me, “because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us. [vs.5] This is what love got to do with it, in my opinion, what about you?
Grave Digger
Years ago, one could seek employment as a grave digger, in the employment of and undertaker. This was some back breaking work, you’d have to take a pick, hole digger, shovel or mattock and dig a six by four-foot hole or larger depending upon the resident to be implanted therein, this meant moving stones, rocks roots or any other things that would hinder the progression and completion of a wall dig grave
Back then two by four boards were laid across the grave with ropes that the coffin or casket was set on until after the ceremony, when the board would be removed as strong men held the coffin up with ropes, which was used to let the coffin down in the grave, and then the grave digger would shovel the dirt which was removed back In that grave on top of that casket. It was a lot of back breaking work, in all type of weather and under all types of conditions because people were just dying to get in.
Today, is much different grave digging is hi-tech, with machines and escalators doing the work and only one or two men in employment, making thing much simpler and easy. Once buried we expect it to stay buried, right? Well in today’s lesson beginning with in part Genesis 50:5 “in my grave which I have digged for me… You will bury me.” “for in death there is no remembrance of you; In the grave who will give thanks” [Psalms 6:5]” for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither you go.” [Ecclesiastes 9:10]
A grave diggers job is to bury the customer, who has no memory of the inturnment, will no longer have to work for a living, or use any more devises, won’t have to use common sense (wisdom) worry about financial, business, education, love life, church, or whatever, it’s over and done with, right? Never more to be brought back in this life. Its covered up under six feet of dirt. Out of sight
But the grave digger, I will be talking about today are not employed in a cemetery or work for an undertaker, they are in many homes. You say, what? Yes! They are in many homes, many relationships waiting to dig things that are buried up. For an example, have you ever known someone in a relationship, who has made a mistake or a couple? Sure you have! Their other half claims to have forgiven the trespass, without going in detail, and everything seems rosey until something else comes along that they are dissatisfied with, here they go transforming into a grave digger, those prior two instance are dug up and brought back to life and thrown in your face accusatorially, those deeds have been exhumed and brought back to life, just like it was never buried. Or,
Maybe you’re young and trying to get a handle on this thing called life as a young person we tend to make a lot of mistakes, that as we progress in life we think we are thrown to the side with each punishment or lecture, but the very next time something happens, that Mom, Dad, Aunt, Uncle, Caretaker, Teacher, eccettra starts from the cradle uncovering every little mistake we ever done, Gravedigger. We thought they had forgot about many of those things, God knows we did and have problems trying to recall many that they are so perfectly counting off on their fingers and toes each grave they dig up and uncover each and every mistake that they were supposed to have forgot about or buried in the past, but before you know it all those body are excavated and laying out for all to see, because of the gravedigger refuse to let them ly in peace. Gravedigger.
You ever had a friend or associate you use to confide in that you trusted with your very life and upmost secrets, but only to find out when things go aware they uncover all your business that you ever told or trust them with, they become very industrial gravediggers in your business making you wonder why did you ever trust this person with these that they are now digging up to use against you from the onset of that relationship. Gravedigger.
Mothers are some of the most unintentional gravedigger out there or in our lives, bless their hearts, they don’t mean it, but they can bring up some of the most embarrassing moments at the dinner table, in front of company or at socials, assumedly bragging or boosting, but in fact many of the things they choose to talk about us, makes us want to get in a grave and cover ourselves up, yet they can’t see no harm, while we are covering ourselves up they are grave digging to uncover us. Gravedigger.
I thought we were supposed to forgive and forget, and move on past those graves and tombstones, but that not the way gravediggers work, they have a job to do, we might say its nagging, or harping on the same issue or taking out old garbage, the Constance reoccurrence of these suppose forgotten issues, mistakes, acts of negligence, the missing of some important date or engagement, forgetting to pick up so and so, or the grocery, drop off so and so, do so and so, go to so-and-so. If it isn’t one thing its another being brought up by the gravediggers in our lives, I thought the word said if it was dead or a dead issue, like we claim it is, as Psalms 6:5 reads “for in death,”
‘That mean put away, it’s done with, over, caput, we are finished with it, it’s dead, a dead issue: “there is no remembrance”,
But this don’t seem to be the case for gravedigger, they excellent if not selective memory in excavation, and expect us to be grateful for their total and absolute recall. “in the grave who will give you thanks”.? The dead who no longer exist to praise? The way these grave diggers throw these accusations back at us is as the graves were opened and many bodies arose [Matthew 27:52] “and the graves were opened”. And came out of the graves”. [vs.53 in port]
By the gravedigger seal it seems as a great verbal earth quake occurs, and rocks are split open into stone of pebbles, “the earth did quake and the rocks rent:” [vs.51]
The gravedigger once in action are so forceful in their destructive zeal to berate, castrate, belittle, instigate, revive the dead and bring back those things that are supposed to be left buried by their own word, it is dead and: “the dead know not anything, neither have they anymore reward; the memory of them is forgotten. [Eccl. 9:5] for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom in the grave”.
So why can’t the gravediggers let sleeping dog lie, nothing exists if we say its forgotten, then why do we keep digging it up, every difference of opinion every argument, every chance to vex or hurt, belittle, connive, chartist, banner, beat, twist and arm, get our way, total selfishness, you’re out of control. Gravedigger.
I know we don’t have any Christians like that. Do we? Yeah, right, all have sinned. [Romans 3:23] we need to take the victory back from the gravedigger and return it to the grave under these circumstances “o grave, where is your victory?” [I Cor.15:55]
You can have the victory over being a gravedigger, if this is you or you know someone who you consider to be a gravedigger and
