Этот тезис, как признавал Козер, был заимствован им из обсуждения конфликтных явлений, выполненного Уильямсом (Reduction or Intergroup Tension. P. 58) в 1947 г. Однако в этом последнем случае данный тезис обсуждался в таком контексте, из которого можно сделать выводы не о функциях, а о теоретических ориентирах.
