Sample Assignment for Checklist 1
Context
The DevOps Master™ must be able to align the IT services to be delivered by the Development team and Operations team with the business needs. The DevOps Master™ must understand the end-to-end planning of the quality of the service. The assignment should ideally be fulfilled in a service management environment (see lit. A) or equivalent.
Necessities
- A scenario with a new IT service that is needed. Assume there are Development and Operations teams available.
- An (example of an) existing IT service that is live and managed, provided by the trainer or the candidate, complete with scenarios of escaped defects.
- Other candidates or co-workers of the candidate may act as the Development Team and the Operations Team. The assessor may act as a customer. The student acts as the Service Master. See Effective DevOps for a description of the roles.
Deliverables
- 1 DevOps service analysis for the new IT service which:
o contains an initial product backlog (Competence D11.4)
▪ with the identified and analyzed long term user/customer needs (Competence D11.1) in terms of non-functional requirements (for example business continuity) in the format of user stories (Competence D11.2, A1.3)
▪ based on the analyses of the future development in business processes and technology application (Competence A1.1) and the business process requirements that are related to the service (Competence A1.2)
o contains a risk assessment regarding the non-functional requirements of the product backlog which results into:
