Some people wishing to engage in extensive practice of the approach, accomplishment, and activities of Tukdrub may not have initially found time to complete the preliminaries in the usual allotment of time, such as one year. In that case, chant 10,000 of refuge, as much as you can of arousing bodhichitta, 10,000 of the Hundred Syllables, and 10,000 of either the long or short mandala offering. It is excellent if you can do 10,000 prostrations combined with the same number of the short supplication of the outer practice of guru yoga. If you can, also recite about 1,000 of Barchey Lamsel. Chant four times 100,000 of the Vajra Guru mantra for the inner practice. At the end of the session, do the secret practice of sustaining the realization.

After having fully completed all the preliminaries in this way, arrange the amrita, rakta, torma, and the seven enjoyments for the recitation practice of the main part. In the dawn session—from among the four sessions—do the full preliminaries and recitation of the main part, according to the liturgy of the Medium Practice Manual, the Trinley Dringpo. Do the Extensive Practice Manual, the Trinley Gyepa, in the late morning session; the Medium Practice Manual in the afternoon session; and the Extensive Practice Manual at the end of that session, following it through the feast down to the verses of auspiciousness. It is permissible to omit the invocation, covenant, Tenma offerings, and the horse dance every day, but definitely perform them on the tenth day and so forth. Before the feast, or otherwise before the residual offering, also do the petition offering to the Five Tseringma Sisters, the teaching guardians, up to the praises, as well as the torma offering to Kharak Khyung Tsünma, the treasure guardian. If you don’t do the mending prayers, mending of disharmony rituals, or the Tenma petition on a daily basis, perform them on special days, such as the tenth. In particular, make extensive mending prayers on the eighth.

In the evening session, perform the Medium Practice Manual. Whether you are following the Medium Practice Manual or the Concise Daily Practice Manual, open up the recitation mansion saying, BHRUNG VISHVA VISHUDDHE HRIH HUNG PHAT JAH at the end of the praises.

At the point of recitation-invocation in the Extensive Practice Manual, invoke with the words, “Boundless Light and your assembly of deities, manifest from dharmadhatu…” Chant the elaborate visualization for recitation. For the Medium Practice Manual, just follow the text; for the other two, combine it with them.

When concluding a session at the time of doing the life recitation, do as much as you can of the Seven Syllables, Vajra Guru, and Tötreng Tsal mantras as well as the Harinisa mantra, following the Medium Practice Manual; also chant the Vowels and Consonants and the Essence of Causation mantras. As indicated by this, when doing the Seven Syllables and so forth, simply maintain the continuity of the preceding and following recitations.

If you follow the Extensive Practice Manual, say, “Wisdom deities, I invite you, please come…” Make the praises saying, “OM. Wisdom of the Bliss-Gone Recite the Barchey Lamsel supplication and confess faults with “OM. Entire assembly of vidyadhara mandala deities…” Saying, OM AH HUNG SVAHA…, toss the flower of awareness and dissolve the wisdom beings in front into you; then stabilize that with the Hundred Syllables. Saying, “HUNG. In unborn emptiness… “, perform the dissolution and emergence down to the verses of auspiciousness.

If you follow the Medium Practice Manual, proceed through the Vowels and Consonants and Essence of Causation mantras as above. Make the Thousand-Point offering, saying, “Gathering of wisdom deities…” At the end of the Barchey Lamsel supplication, confess faults with the Hundred Syllables. Saying, JAH HUNG BAM HOH, imagine that the wisdom beings in front dissolve into you, stabilize with the Hundred Syllables, dissolve with the triple HUNG, and continue through to the utterance of auspiciousness in the general way.
