Sin embargo, hay una renovada apreciación de la importancia de integrar, por ejemplo, el conocimiento fisiológico, en los modelos ecológicos para predecir con mayor exactitud los impactos de los cambios globales sobre los organismos, la biodiversidad y la salud pública. Proponemos que la emergente ciencia del cambio global debe considerar formalmente los mecanismos que explican la sensibilidad, la resiliencia y el potencial de adaptación al cambio climático de especies nativas y cultivadas, así como los efectos de vectores de las enfermedades sobre poblaciones humanas enfrentadas a diferentes escenarios globales.
