de otras marcas lingüísticas y a través de una experiencia que se presenta como diferente. Sin embargo, esa nueva experiencia siempre es tamizada por la lengua del narrador / autor, haciendo inteligible aquello que se considera ilegible, es decir, la traducción de una especie de murmullo a un logos que distinga un sistema social de otros. Cabe comentar aquí que el texto de Defoe nos presenta un viajero que –sobre las trazas de su antecesor, Francis Godwin– recorre entre otros territorios China, lo que nos muestra el interés por el exotismo oriental como parámetro de diferenciación y como un territorio donde es posible conocer una serie de prodigios que implicará una nueva valoración del conocimiento en la Inglaterra del autor. Lo señalado en la “Introducción” de Un viaje a Cacklogallinia es válido también para la sátira de Defoe, pues en ambas obras detectamos que “la representación literaria del viaje a la luna […] funciona como recurso figurativo para evaluar críticamente la exploración y explotación de los territorios allende el Atlántico, mientras que el creciente dominio sobre el cruce de aguas otrora infranqueables acicateaba a la imaginación para encarar la posibilidad de franquear el espacio sublunar”, y la luna, esa otra tierra habitada, esa otra Inglaterra, se transforma en un motivo válido para proyectar sociedades utópicas y distópicas y generar una reflexión en torno a las políticas de gobierno.
Como podemos ver, la variedad de perspectivas que presentan estos textos utópicos del siglo XVIII nos remonta a la curiosidad y a la imaginación de la época como motor de la especulación social y de la crítica cultural y política. Los relatos de viajes se transforman de este modo en una red múltiple donde las voces comienzan a entrelazarse para mostrar al lector las diferentes facetas que atraviesan la historia, el sistema político, las creencias y la experimentación en un mundo que pareciera comenzar a tomar la forma de un discurso más compacto e inteligible en términos de una ratio secularizada.
